Research

When you start researching a topic it is like fishing with a net. Throw it wide and far; collecting as many different references from as many different sources as you can.
For example use books, talanoa, the internet, film, T.V, kanohi ki te kanohi, games, kai, galleries, marae, artists, dance, hīkoi, your community and try to be open to other knowledge traditions such as tikanga Māori.

Once you start to know your topic you can hone in and concentrate on references that are more specific, you are more like a hunter now.
